PCI Job Opening: Research Fellow

JOB DESCRIPTION - PCI Research Fellow

The Progressive Change Institute is hiring a research fellow to work on a project related to public policy and government appointments, as well as other special projects as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a background in public policy or related fields, as well as strong research and writing experience, and an interest in learning more about corruption and trust in government. Progressive ideology is a must!

The position requires a strong work ethic, diligence and the ability to internalize instructions to meet project goals. The right candidate will know how to be flexible and creative in finding answers while still following guidelines and procedures and completing tasks on deadline. We are looking for the type of person who reports in when they complete assignments rather than waiting for a manager to check in; who welcomes feedback and genuinely wants to do things right; who is driven by the mission and goals of the project and possesses a fierce desire to help.

Responsibilities:

Research and synthesis. You will need to be creative and relentless in your research, employing everything from search engines to the Library of Congress. You will also need to summarize your findings in clear, easy-to-understand formats.

Create, maintain, and update spreadsheets and database entries. The projects you work on will involve tracking a lot of data. You’ll need to be extremely organized and disciplined about keeping the data consistent and up-to-date. Familiarly with Google spreadsheets is strongly preferred.

Interviews with academics and policy makers. You may need to interview academics and policy makers. You’ll need to prepare in advance for these interviews, and write reports afterwards on these conversations.

This fellowship is a full-time, three-month position, and the pay is $3,000 a month with fully-paid health care benefits. The Progressive Change Institute is a virtual work environment, and the right candidate can be based anywhere.

The Progressive Change Institute is dedicated to the achievement of equality of opportunity for all its employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, age, national origin, or disability status.
