Web Developer - Interaction Designer

We’re building a series of applications to streamline and enhance powerful new organizing models that connect real, on-the-ground activism (in many forms!) with the scale and reach of a leading online organization.

We are looking for a developer who:

• Is an expert in the fundamentals of web development; writes clean, well-­structured HTML, responsive CSS, and JavaScript that acts correctly and consistently across all major browsers. 
• Is comfortable working in a number of development environments, especially Django, PHP, WordPress and other CMS/CRM toolsets. (Experience with the ActionKit CRM would be an added bonus.) 
• Has a great working knowledge of: jQuery, AJAX, LESS/SASS/SCSS, JavaScript templating,coffeescript, backbone.js. 
• Has experience using version control systems. (Git is a big plus; link to your public GitHub activity an even bigger plus!) 
• Loves maps, charts, and interactive infographics—and has the range of skills and creative eye needed to compose, design, and code them from data to dazzling visualization (Experience with Flash is a plus.) 
• Gets excited about figuring out how to put an outside-the-box application into a clean packing for an intuitive user experience, and wants to build innovative tools without reinventing the wheel any more than necessary. 
• Cares about social justice and economic equality.

The perfect candidate will be a creative developer, sensitive to the human experience and the power of a streamlined workflow. He or she should be flexible and eager to learn new tools, but grounded in a strong mastery of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant client-side technologies.

He or she will be able to work on a deadline, and able to structure work on multiple priorities over a period of weeks or months, working in concert with the CIO, Web Applications Developer, Graphic Artist, and the organizers who ultimately serve as the end users for our tools. She will be comfortable working in a virtual office, and willing to work extra hours during crunch times. This is a full-time position with benefits; pay will be commensurate with experience and skill.
