This week, as the House and Senate began major budget negotiations, PCCC co-founder Adam Green spoke at a briefing at the U.S. Senate.
We announced that the PCCC, AFL-CIO, National Organization For Women, Latinos For a Secure Retirement, and over two dozen other progressive allies released an open letter with a clear message to Congress: Expand Social Security benefits, don't cut them.

OPEN LETTER:
We support increasing Social Security benefits. Therefore, in upcoming budget negotiations, a Grand Bargain that cuts Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits must be off the table.
Recent polls show that expanding Social Security benefits is overwhelmingly popular in states as diverse as Texas, Kentucky, Colorado, Iowa, and Hawaii.
In the future, separate from budget discussions, Congress should debate expanding Social Security.
